LNRCS Maryland Chapter Observes 102 Years Anniversary in Pleebo

The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS), Maryland Chapter has colorfully observed its 102 years of anniversary in the commercial City of Pleebo, Maryland County under the theme “Unstoppable, Ineradicable and Impartiality”.

The program which was held at the Pleebo City Hall Saturday, 8th May 2021, was graced by the local authority, students, civil society organizations, and a representation from Partners in Health including the Media.

During the program, Harper Branch Coordinator Mr. Ambrose S. Nollen read the History of the Liberia National Red Cross Society, giving the historical background noting that the LNRCS was founded in 1919, and reactivated in 2008, with its first President, Rev. Dr. Edwin Lloyd.

On his part, the Chairperson of the Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) Maryland  Chapter Mr. Emmanuel B. Chea said (LNRCS), Maryland Chapter is one of the longest serving humanitarian organizations in the country and has been providing vital life-saving interventions to people without discrimination.

“The Liberian Red Cross assists the Government of Liberia in improving the lives of vulnerable people by rendering services in the areas of disaster and emergency preparedness and response.

Mr. Chea used the occasion to call on the Local and National government to support the Maryland County Chapter of ( LNRCS), in order to reach out to vulnerable community in rural, rural parts of the county.

During the celebration, two schools including the Pleebo High and Our lady of Fatima High school in Harper City participated in this colorful program.

The Red Cross Essay Poem Competition was won by Student Daniel Brown of Our lady of Fatima Catholic High School in Harper.

Concluding, Mr. David H. Eskine, Resource Mobilization Chairperson Maryland County chapter expressed thanks and appreciation to the participants for gracing the occasion, and further encouraged others to obtain membership form this noble organizations.
