LMBEC Official Clarifies On Jamaica Resorts Eviction Story, Says Convention Is Not Aware

Following media report that the Liberia Baptist Missionary Education Convention (LBMEC) has launched an investigatory survey to reclaim several acres of land allegedly encroached by property owners including President George Weah’s Jamaica Resorts, along the highway of the Roberts International Airport (RIA), an official of the Convention have publicly clarified on the report.

Speaking in an exclusive with the GNN via mobile phone today, January 5, 2021, the head of the Baptist Transitional Committee tasks to reclaim all LBMEC property, Dr. Nathaniel Blama, said even though the committee is carrying out series of investigation to reclaim all properties belonging to the Convention he was not aware of such.

The total area of 68 acres of land was acquired in 1976 by Liberia’s ex-President William R. Tolbert, when he served as President of the Baptist World Alliance.

President Weah’s Jamaica Resorts is reportedly occupying four lots the land in question which is situated in Paynesville, outside Monrovia. The land in question was reportedly  sold illegally  by an unauthorized person only identified as Karnga, during the civil war in 1994.
