One-time child peace laureate Abraham Keita has disclosed plans to undertake a four-day shoe shine and car wash campaign to raise funds to help children living in orphanages.
Keita is a child rights activist who won the International Children’s Peace Prize in 2016, mainly based on his role as a strong advocate for children in Liberia.
Speaking Thursday on a local radio talk show, Keita said the campaign is aimed at helping two orphanages that are in terrible condition.
Keita said it is now time for the government’s attention to be drawn to the support of the children of Liberia, adding, “They are the future generation and their issues should be of priority.”
He also called on President George M. Weah, the National Legislature and Cabinet to be a part of the upcoming event by making contribution to the initiative which is expected to be held on Broad Street soon.
