Liberian Leader Donates To New Kru Town Fire Victims
President George Manneh Weah has made a compassionate donation of 600 bags of 50kg rice, 30 mattresses and 20 bales of used clothes to victims of the recent fire disaster which occurred in the Popo Beach community in New Kru Town.
Speaking during a visit to New Kru Town on Monday, the Liberian leader said the initial donation is the government’s way of identifying with victims of the fire tragedy as they experience a period of displacement.
President Weah noted that the peace, happiness and wellbeing of all citizens is his priority and, therefore, he will always do everything possible to identify with his people.
“As a good citizen, it is prudent to identify with your compatriots in such a time like this and it is also good to encourage them and give them hope that all is not lost,” he said.
Also speaking at the occasion, District #16 Representative Dixon Seboe described the donation made by President Weah as “a fulfillment of some of the promises” made by the Liberian leader during the electioneering period.
Seboe stated that the series of donations made by President Weah over the years have presented a new vigour and development in Liberia and most especially within and around the vicinity of the Popo Beach community.
According to him, President Weah’s gesture did not come as a surprise because; it is not the first time he is making such donation to his people.
For his part, Popo Beach Youth Chairman Emmanuel S. Karley applauded President Weah on behalf of residents and victims of the fire disaster for reaching out to the community in a positive way.
