LIBERIA: Woman, 83, Corpse Mysteriously Stolen From The Grave Along With The Casket  Used To Buried Her In Pleebo

Police in Pleebo, Maryland County are said to be investigating the mysterious disappearance of a corpse, of an 83 years old woman who was recently buried at the St. Francis Catholic cemetery on the outskirts of the city of Pleebo.

According to our Correspondent, the son of the late Theresa Mieh, Augustine Bobby Mieh, said his Mother who died on March 28, 2020, and was buried April 4th, 2020 was noticed that her remains which was properly buried was discovered completely broken into with the casket taken away along with corpse, a situation which made resident in Pleebo to be in a total confused state.

The incident which many people opined is the first of its kind to happen in the County for a body to be stolen along with the casket Coffin to be stolen without a trace. The Caretaker of the Grave site, according to our Correspondent said the incident happened on April 16, 2020 when a man identified only as Mr. Jlakah informed him that at about 5:55 pm that the family of the missing corpse.

He further explained that when the family went on to the scene, it was noticed that the casket had been taken away along with the remains of the dead woman, stressing that it is very strange and saddened for the family”.

According to the Son of the deceased Augustine B. Mieh, the case has been reported to the Kru tribal leadership in Pleebo, local county authority and the Pleebo Detachment of the Liberia National police.

He also stated that though his late mother was a member of  a special native society call ‘Sosimi’ a Kru women dancing group ,adding that  can’t remember his mother to a part of any Fraternity apart from the Roman Catholic Church which she was a member.

Meanwhile, local police officials in the County are yet to come out with an official position Statement on this matter.
