LIBERIA: Tragic Motor Accident In Grand Gedeh County Leaves Four Dead

scene of the motor accidentAccording to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Correspondent in Grand Gedeh County, four business women have been confirmed dead following a tragic motor accident that occurred Thursday on the route from Gboleken to Garley Town in Grand Gedeh County.

The four women are said to be part of a group of businesswomen who were on their way to the neighboring Ivory Coast to procure goods.

According to the report, the incident happened when a truck carrying several vendors malfunctioned while climbing a muddy hill forcing it to descend before flipping at the foot of the hill thereby resulting in the death of the four women.

The deceased, have accordingly been moved to a mortuary in a nearby town along the Ivorian border.

Teams from the Liberia Immigration Service, Business Groups, and community members are said to be moving to the scene this morning to verify and identify the deceased.

A cloud of mourning has characterized the mood of Grand Gedeh County as family members are on the lookout for further information while the County’s Superintendent has ordered a brief period of mourning in the county.

The Garley Town Border and Zwedru road is currently being rehabilitated by the UNHCR to ease the repatriation of Ivorian refugees owing to the bad condition of the Zwedru-Toe Town as well as the B’Hai Border with Ivory Coast road.

Meanwhile, Grand Gedeh County Superintendent has ordered the County Inspector, County Commerce Inspector, and LIS County Commander to proceed to the accident scene as part of efforts to further probe the incident. Courtesy: LINA
