Monrovia, Liberia – Air Force Brig. Gen. George “Dutch” Dietrich, Director of Logistics for U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), has officially announced that Liberia will host the 2025 West Africa Logistics Conference (WALC). This marks the first time Liberia will serve as host for this significant event, highlighting ongoing efforts to bolster regional collaboration and logistics capabilities throughout West Africa.
Brig. Gen. Dietrich expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone, emphasizing that the 2025 WALC will concentrate on enhancing interoperability, developing synchronized logistics strategies, and ensuring resource readiness. The aim is to collectively improve the ability of participating nations to respond rapidly and effectively to challenges within the region.
Building upon the achievements of the 2024 WALC held in Cameroon, the upcoming conference will provide a crucial forum for both military and civilian leaders to tackle shared logistics challenges and coordinate responses across various operational scenarios.
“Logistics remains the backbone of all operations, and is especially critical in a place as vast as the African continent,” stated Brig. Gen. Dietrich. Key discussion points at the conference will include supply chain security, the harmonization of doctrines, and sustainable procurement practices. A significant focus will be placed on empowering African partners through the strengthening of the existing partnership network.
Liberia’s selection as a co-host underscores its increasing importance in regional security and its dedication to promoting stability and cooperation. Brig. Gen. Dietrich conveyed his appreciation to Liberia for its commitment in preparing for this landmark event. He noted that U.S. Africa Command anticipates close collaboration with the Armed Forces of Liberia and other West African partners in the coming months to ensure a successful and impactful conference.
The 2025 WALC will feature engaging panels, discussions led by partners, and practical exchanges designed to share best practices, lessons learned, and opportunities for collaboration. Ultimately, the goal is to strengthen the logistics networks that support shared security and humanitarian objectives, thereby advancing peace, stability, and prosperity across the West African region.
