The Liberian Government has with immediate effect halted the operation of a Lebanese construction company, the SSF or Sekou Sheriff Faiwah, this is a result following media report that the company operations has posed a danger to residents in the Towel Hill Community on the Monrovia/Robert field highway, Margibi County.
According to a press release from the Executive Mansion, the government last Thursday intervened into the matter by organizing a meeting with both parties aimed at finding solution to the matter.
During the meeting with the citizens, the County Legislative Caucus and SSF Company, it was agreed that the Company halt its operations until the matter is thoroughly investigated.
The Government through the Ministry of Lands, Mines and energy along with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) stopped the Company from operating until an assessment is conducted to determine as to whether or not the company will remain in the area.
The Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Lands, Mines and Energy, Emmanuel T.T. Swen claimed that there is no record at his ministry as to any agreement between the SSF and the government through the ministry.
Minister Swen further disclosed that the Liberian Government is not aware of the company operation in the country, claiming that the company is operating illegally.

“We want to clarify that the government is not aware of the company’s operation.
The license was issued to one Queen-dao Company for the purpose of rock crushing in Tower Hill Margibi County but we don’t know how Sekou Sheriff Faiway began operation in this place where Queen-dao should be operating,” he stated.
The company’s operation is said to have led Unique Medical Clinic in the community to close down its operations due to alleged strong vibration caused by the blasting of the rock by the company.
Residents recently told this paper that pregnant women are experiencing pre-mature birth coupled with constant deterioration in patient’s condition due to the blasting of rock, something that led to the closure of the health facility.
Mercy Yarpah, OIC at the clinic recently told this paper that prior to the shutting down of the clinic, they had pre-mature deaths, miscarriages, blindness, something that prompted the proprietor to shut down the clinic.
