LIBERIA: Senator Sogbie Alarms Over ‘Disappearances’ Of NTA Buses From The Streets

River Gee County Senator, Jonathan Boye Charles Sogbie has alarmed over the disappearances of the National Transit Authority buses on the main streets of Monrovia meant for public transportation of citizens in the country.
Raising the red flag before the Senate plenary during the Tuesday’s regular session of that august body up Capitol Hill, Jonathan Sogbie stressed that the NTA as an institution, is charged with the responsibility to provide affordable transport services for the citizens.
He recounted that it was based on this responsibility of the government’s entity, the people and government of India provided Liberia 45 brand new buses to ease the high cost of transportation.
But the River Gee County Senator said it has been observed that those buses have disappeared from the main streets of the nation’s capital without an update from the National Transit Authority about the whereabouts of those vehicles.
Considering the conveniences, the unavailability of the buses have caused struggling citizens, Senator Sogbie has therefore called on the leadership of the Liberian Senate to probe the matter in the interest of the public.
Also speaking, Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon termed the concern by his legislative colleague as grave and should be referred to the Senate Committee on Transport to report back to plenary for an appropriate action.
