A member of the Nimba County Legislative Caucus and District # 3, Representative Joseph Nyan Somwarbi has publicly joined his kinsmen to call on the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah to speedily sign the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) between the Solwy Mining Company and the Liberian Government. Nimba County District # 3 is where Solway Mining is currently doing exploration.
In an exclusive interview with a staff of the GNN Liberia, Representative Somwarbi recounted the level of support being provided by the people of Nimba County through the provision of jobs opportunities, and the granting of scholarships to young people of the county affording them to academically make them to achieve their goals in life is commendable.
He said there will always be detractors, noting, “But our ability to uphold, extend for what we believed in is what matters, and this is exactly what is unfolding in the county. As a people center leader, the will of my people is what I portray, advocated and stand for, and on that basis, Solway came in; as community and friendly company “, Representative Joseph Nyan Somwarbi during GNN Liberia interview explained.
The Nimba County Lawmaker said when the company came to Nimba he was pledged to it over to the community, making the community to know that Solway was in the county to do exploration, and further informed them (The Community Residents) that it is a community based company here to help them.
Representative Joseph Nyan Somwarbi, a member of the ruling CDC Government noted that Solway came to the county with a direct community engagement, and is currently transforming the lives of the people whose communities this company is operating. Stressing, “They are doing extremely lots for our people, training them in Agriculture including farming where vegetables are now being produced to empower, especially the single mothers, widows , can you imagined this company is just in the exploration stage”, he disclosed to this outlet.
He also disclosed that people of his district have informed him that they will used the visit of President Weah in Sanniquellie tomorrow, July 13, 2022 that Solway Mining is a community friendly company, and that its MDA must be signed upon his arrival to Monrovia, this is one of the requests of the citizens, Representative Somwarbi said.
