LIBERIA: Nigerian Man Found Dead After Being Missing For Days

Flash back: Man found dead

GANTA, (LINA) – The lifeless body of a Nigerian national believed to be in his mid-40s was on Friday, July 12, discovered in a nearby swamp around the Toweh yard community in Ganta, Nimba County.

Oyiboredo O. Wilson, a resident of Toweh Community in Ganta, was recently elected Secretary General of the Nigerian community in Nimba.

Family sources told the Liberia News Agency that Wilson went missing during the late night hours of Tuesday, July 9, when he left his room to chase after a criminal who attempted removing the window bars to enter his home.

The body of Wilson, according to LINA correspondent who visited the discovery scene, was taken out of a swamp about a stone’s throw from his house.

Though there were no body parts extracted, it was however observed that the body of the deceased Nigerian contained multiple bruises which suggest that there was a serious tussle between him (Wilson) and his assailants.

Wilson’s mysterious disappearance has since shocked the Nigerian community in Nimba County, especially in Ganta and several members of the community told LINA that the deceased was an “educated man” who had lived in Liberia for so many years and hearing that he got out of his house in pursuit of an unidentified person was absurd and unbelievable.

Meanwhile, the body of Wilson has been deposited at a local funeral home in Ganta while investigation by the Liberia National Police is ongoing.
