LIBERIA: National Council of Chiefs and Elders local women commence harvest in Bong

A group of women under the National Council of Chiefs and Elders has commenced the harvesting of about four hectare of upland rice it planted this farming season.
The National Coordinator of the National Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders Madam Ceita Saah Fofanah at the official ceremony in on the Ganta Highway outside Gbarnga commended the women for the step taken to plant rice.
Madam Fofanah said the traditional council supports agriculture especially rice considering the fact that it is Liberia stable food.
She told the women that not to just harvest this year and sit by but should make their rice planting a continuous process.
Madam Fofanah pledged the National Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders’ support to the women initiative in the county.
She told them to keep standing up for the betterment in the country.
Two officials of the National Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders women farming group Madam Albanison Kromah and Madam Aletha Sackor Sheriff said the planting of the four hectare of rice was difficult due to the lack of support but said they are glad it has been realized.
Madam Albanison Kromah and Madam Aletha Sackor explained that women of Bong County are very committed to helping government create a strong agricultural sector that will benefit all Liberians.
