LIBERIA: Man, 42, Gets 5 Years For Human Trafficking

Criminal Court “A” Presiding Judge Roosevelt Willie has sentenced a 42-year-old man to five years imprisonment for trafficking his 12-year-old daughter

Defendant Amara S. Keifa was on June 16, 2017 arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) based upon information given by Madam Margo Cooper-Korkoya that the defendant had been in communication with her about his desire to sell his daughter Facia Keifa forUS$300,000.

The defendant was picked up when Madam Korkoya informed the police about the situation, while he (defendant) was on his way to her residence on Smythe Road in the Old Road community to receive the US$300,000.

Handing down final ruling Wednesday, Judge Willie said that the act of the defendant is a first degree felony, and that there was sufficient evidence adduce during trial, and the act of the defendant is wicked, causing him bear the full weight of the law.

Meanwhile, Judge Willie has ordered the Clerk of Court to prepared a commitment for the defendant to serve a five year jail sentenced running from June 27, 2018 to June 27, 2023.
