LIBERIA: Man, 21, allegedly commits suicide in Duazon

A 21 year man allegedly commit suicide in Duazon, Lower Margibi County. Benjamin Urey, 21, reportedly committed suicide early Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his parent’s residence in Duazon along the Robert International Airport Road.

The Homicide Division of the Liberia National Police and a fifteen person jury established that the deceased used his necktie to hang himself on a drinking gallon in his parents’ living room.

The investigation also established that Urey was living in the house alone with a little girl only identified as Reeves, noting that there was no foul play on the physical body of the deceased.

According to a close neighbor of the deceased, Boimah Zulu, the late Benjamin was recently misbehaving and complaining about severe pain in his head. According to Boimah, he advised the family that Urey be taken to the mental health clinic; which they did last week and he got discharged the same day.

Boimah said he was surprised to have woken up this morning hearing that the late Benjamin Urey hung himself in the living room.

Meanwhile after Identifying with the bereaved family following his interaction with the Liberia National Police, the Representative of the district, Tilberosa Tarponweh said he is bemoaned about the situation and described it as unfortunate and scary.

The Margibi County District one Lawmaker meanwhile extended his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, the people of Margibi-Electoral District One and the entire Liberian citizenry for the death of their son and brother.
