LIBERIA: LNP Charges Man, 31, For Alleged Murder Of Girl, 17

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged and sent to court a 31year-old man for alleged murder of a girl,17, in the New Georgia community in the Gardnersville area.
Police spokesman Moses Carter told a news conference at the LNP headquarters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that the suspect identified as Saah Joseph (not Senator Saah Joseph) admitted to the crime during police investigation.
According to Carter, the suspect told police investigators that he and the victim had an agreement in which he was to pay her US$20 to spend the night with him at his contractual steel bending site.
Carter added that suspect Joseph further told the police that the victim later refused him in bed for the second time that night, something that sparked a fight between the two during which the girl fell unconscious.
The suspect later told the police that when he noticed the victim was unconscious, he threw her body out of the fence near the steel bending site, using a wooden ladder.
“In view of the facts and circumstances, coupled with the evidence offered, the suspect has been charged with the crime of murder,” Carter noted.
Meanwhile, the LNP is urging members of the public, family and friends of the deceased to remain calm as the LNP is doing all it can to ensure that the perpetrator (s) of the crime face the full weight of the law.
