Independence Orator Wants Ellen’s Gov’t Audited

Liberia’s Minister of Finance, Development and Planning and this years’ Independence Day Orator has strongly recommended to the George Manneh Weah’s led Government to audit the former government of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the ‘abused of Liberia’s resources’.

Serving as National Orator of Liberia’s 171st Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Monrovia at the Centennial Pavilion where interestingly the former Liberian leader (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) was seated, Minister Tweah speaking further underscored the need for the government of President George Manneh Weah to audit the former Liberian leader government that is accused of corruption.

Stressing further, Minister Tweah said it is important for the Weah-led to demonstrate its commitment in the fight against corruption, noting that to demonstrate such commitment, the government must now begin to hold individuals who abused public resources in the past and present government accountable.

He said it is about time that the CDC-led government to review past audits and act on them, especially when it is proven that past officials abused public resources, noting that corruption has and continued to undermine the development of Liberia, as such, this government which was elected on the matrix of change must fight this menace head on.

He said it is unacceptable for few individuals to dissipate public resources while vast majority of the population languished in poverty.
