LIBERIA: In Rivergee County, Woman Sues Chinese Gold Mining Group

A prominent woman of Rivergee County in south-eastern Liberia has reportedly sued has sued a Chinese Gold Mining Group which is operation in the County, specifically in Gbeapo, Tartuken.

According to a press release, Beatrice Karpeh, daughter of the late Paramount Chief Joe Karpeh, noting that this lawsuit is aimed at  redeeming their land from the Barrobo, and to curb the ongoing criminal mining in Gbeapo-Tartuken’s Besiken.

The release said, ‘This is unabated to the extent that Miss. Beatrice Karpeh, one of the daughters of the Late Paramount Chief Joe Karpeh, has sued the Jinlong Gold Mining Company (a Chinese mining group currently pillaging everything in Tartuken and in Besiken) to the Stipendiary Magisterial Court in Karweaken in the County.

According to the release, to that effect, a Writ of Arrest has been issued, setting the pace for the marathon lawsuits we plan and will pursue up to the Supreme Court of Liberia.
