LIBERIA: In Margibi County Man, 42, Allegedly Beats Man, 24, To Death

Police in Kakata Margibi County are said to be investigating a 42-year-old man and father of nine children Salue Cyphus for allegedly beating a 24 years old man to death during a fist fight in Weala.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with reporters on Tuesday February 1, 2022, the allege suspect Isaac Salue, 42, explain that he had no intention murdering his friend, but thought on butting the deceased to get some relief while under attack.

He alleged that the victim woman was always referring to him and wife as criminals; the situation he said caused confrontation between the two families but was later settled traditionally by tradition leaders in the community.

He further that early Saturday morning when he had gone to use the latrine, he starting hearing a sound from the back of the latrine and later discussed that it was John Brown confronting him about had transpired between him and his wife.

He indicating that the deceased immediately jump on that which led to fist fight and he instantly butt him as a means of defending himself.

Suspect Salue Cyphus, who expressed regret over his action, is calling on the government and family of the deceased to pardon him.

The police are expected to charge the suspect and send him to court for prosecution soon.

If it’s established Cyphus acted in self-defense as claimed, he will be charged for manslaughter that goes with lesser penalty as compared to murder.
