LIBERIA: IDA Presents L$88k To Two Schools For Students

The Initiative for Democratic Alternative (IDA), a non-profit organization, has presented L$88,050 as fees for 36 students it is sponsoring at the Lower Harlandsville Public School and the Fred Mart Memorial School in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

IDA Program Consultant, Alvin M. Freeman, presented the checks on the campuses of the two institutions on Monday.

The IDA is a non-profit organization operating both in the United States of America and Liberia with a mandate to educate and empower the next generation of change makers.

Delivering the checks, Mr. Freeman said the money represents the 2018/2019 activities fees and tuition of 36 students from both schools with Lower Harlandsville accounting for 21 students; while 15 others are attending the Fred Mart Memorial School.

At the separate presentations, the private institution, Fred Mart Memorial received L$66,000, while the Lower Harlandsville School got L$22,050.

“IDA-Liberia believes education is a critical component of state building, especially in a society that has experienced sustained violence,” Freeman asserted.

IDA-Liberia is a financial aid and scholarship driven institution that supports the educational pursuit of underprivileged Liberian children in Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, Grand Bassa and Montserrado counties, Freeman said.

The event was witnessed by the Buchanan District Education Officer, Amos Teloe, parents and students.
