LIBERIA: Her Voice Liberia Hails Government For Empowering Small Holder Farmers

It was a scene of celebrations in Bomi County when over thirty women joyously received the donation of farming tools from the Government of Liberia.
The beneficiaries all women from Her Voice Liberia farming program hailed the government for helping to empower them as they contribute to the Country’s Agriculture sector.
According to the Executive Director of Her Voice Liberia Evangeline Sirleaf, the donation by the government is not only timely but very meaningful aimed at further enhancing the work of her institution’s farmers in Western Liberia.
Madam Sirleaf at the same time encourage her farmers to see the gesture as a big empowerment to them as such, they should use the items wisely for the betterment of the sector.
Her Voice Liberia Boss also used the occasion to encourage more support to women farmers in order to empower them and promote sustainability.
The government gesture which is said to be targeting the entire Country is under the Small Holder Agriculture Transformation and Agribusiness Revitalization project (STAR-P)
Among other things, the objectives of the project is to increase agricultural productivity and promote commercialization of small holder farmers through productive linkages between farmers and the private agribusiness firms in selected value chain in Liberia.
Moreover, it seeks to build institutional capacity and strengthening the enabling environment for farmers, state and non-state actors.
The project is aligned with Pillar two of the government development envelop, the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development, the PADP.
Pillar two among other things speaks of economic stability and job creation through effective resource mobilization and prudent management of economic inclusion.
Meanwhile, some of the meaningful donated items include: shovels, cutlasses and other farming implements.
