Liberia Handball Leadership Complains To Lawmakers

The Liberia National Handball Association (LNHA) has written the Legislature through its Committee on Ways, Means and Finance concerning the draft National 2022 budget, of which the Ministry of Youth and Sports allotted USD 1,050.00 for the Association.

The local Handball leadership therefore complained through a formal letter that the Association’s female team is currently invited to participate in the 17th Women youth African Nations Cup in Conakry, Guniea on the 26th of February  2022 and the male teams, featuring both youth and junior in Abidjan on April 9, 2022.

The leadership also noted both male and female U-20 teams are expected to participate in the Mano River Union annual tournament which is slated for the 28th to January 2022 in Kenema City, Sierra Leone. They added they are appealing to members of the Legislature to increase the budgetary allotment in the National Budget of 20-22.

Meanwhile, the LNHA is a member of the International Handball Federation and also a member of the Continental handball body, the Confederation of African Handball.

It can be recalled that both male and female teams of Liberia participated in several IHF Youth Challenge Trophies. Both teams have represented Liberia in the tournament as fellow Togo, Ivory Coast, Niger and Ghana.

In a related development, the Liberia National Handball Association has been admitted to the Commonwealth. This means that Liberia will be taking part in the Commonwealth Handball game to come.
