LIBERIA: Gender Ministry Identifies With Children In Need

As part of the Commemoration of Liberia’s 174th Independence Day Anniversary – the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in partnership with the Office of the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Ambassador Clar Marie Weah delivered 26 Day Giveaway to thousands of children in Monrovia and its environs.

This is an event that is traditionally carried out yearly by the Ministry, as part of the July 26 Celebration.

The 26 Day Giveaway catered to children in several hospitals which include: the John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) Memorial Hospital in Sinkor, the SOS Clinic in Congo Town, the James David Junior (JDJ) Memorial Hospital in Nezoe Community, Paynesville and Redemption Hospital in NewKru Town.

Additionally, Children from several communities that benefited include: Doe Community, PHP, Old Road, Wayzeh, Sinkor Airfield, ELWA Community Road, Duazon, GSA Road, Children’s Village and Congo Town.

At these various locations, the Children received gift bags containing toys, assorted food, snacks, milk and juices.

“As a Ministry with the mandate to protect children – it brings me endless joy to routinely identify with them during the Nation’s Independence celebration. I am even more delighted that we reached out to children in hospitals”. Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr, Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister expressed.

The Gender Boss thanked the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) and National Social Security  & Welfare Cooperation (NASSCORP) for providing funding that enabled the Ministry to reach out to children in need.
