VOINJAMA, , (LINA) – Four officers of the Lofa County detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) are currently undergoing investigation for allegedly severely brutalizing several persons in Lofa County.
Making the disclosure recently in Lofa County, the Commander of the Professional Standard Division (PSD) of the LNP Lofa County detachment, Superintendent Rufus Chea, said Kolahun District Police Commander Sgt. Christina Taylor, Deputy Kolahun District Commander Peter Beyan, Officers Jacob Fumba and Andrew Tamba are being quizzed for allegedly flogging Madam Jenneh Ndebe and three other persons in Kolahun.
The victims were manhandled on allegation of involvement in the disappearance of a woman believed to be in her 80s whose lifeless body was discovered almost a week after she went missing in the area.
PSD Superintendent Chea said the accused policemen also allegedly brutalized Jartu Ndebe, 28; Patrick Ndebe, 26, as well as a man believed to be in his 70s who was also allegedly severely flogged by the police officers in the district.
The local PSD Commander strongly condemned the alleged act by the police, and assured speedy investigation into the matter.
