LIBERIA: FIFA, CAF Honor President Weah As Ambassador Of Pan African School Football Championship
The Confederation of African Football, and the World Football governing body FIFA during the week, May 5, 2021 paid homage to the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah when he was honored another strategic football award from the two football governing bodies.
The award was presented to the chief patron of sports on Wednesday during a one day courtesy visit at his Rehab residence by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
Accompanied the award with a certificate was also a blue Jersey branded FIFA with the famous number -14 at the back.
According to the two football Presidents, the award was a means of appreciating and recognizing the significant and strategic role Dr. Weah played in the sector especially putting the continent on the map of football among others.
“You are a great role module on the continent and the world at large as such the award to you is pivotal”, they noted.
The both football heads said they see President Weah as a key figure that can help with his professionalism and influence to move the sector forward.
President Weah speaking further said , he will always be remembered and respected as a football icon noting that he deserve such an award, at the same time, the honoree hailed both FIFA and CAF Presidents for the recognition.
He said there is a lot that Liberia can do to help improve Football infrastructure development especially with the support of FIFA and CAF.
Dr. Weah also used the occasion to thank CAF President for overturning the ban decision on the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
“The decision is welcoming and we will do more to help improve on what needs to be improve as far as the requirements are concerned”, The Liberian leader added.
The honor of President Weah Wednesday was part of a one day visit activities of the two top football heads to Liberia.
