The Government of Liberia and the European Union recently signed two financing agreements worth twenty-four million Euros. As part of the agreement, twenty- million will go towards technical and vocational education and training (TVET) while four million will be used for civil society support.
Institutions to benefit from the TVET program include the MONROVIA vocational Training Center, Booker Washington Institute in Margibi County, Greenville Multilateral High School in Greenville Sinoe County, Cape Palmas High School in Maryland County and the Zwedru Multilateral High School in Grand Gedeh County.
EU Ambassador to Liberia, Helene Cave signed for her organization while Finance Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweh, signed behalf of the Liberian Government.
Speaking at the signing ceremony Thursday, May 3, 2018, Ambassador Cave expressed optimism that the funding will make a significant impact on the government’s Pro-Poor Agenda.
For his part, Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel Tweh praised EU for the funding and emphasized the need to constantly measure the impact of the project on its beneficiaries.
The TVET program will be implemented by the United Nations Industrial.
