Liberia Embassy In Accra Reportedly Abandoned, Whereabouts Of Ambassador, Employees Unknown
A local radio station in Monrovia has reported that the Liberia Embassy near the Ghanaian capital, Accra has reportedly been abandoned with the whereabouts of the Ambassador and staff of the embassy unknown.
The Fabric Radio 101.1 FM in an exclusive interview with a Liberian residing in Accra said the embassy over the past weeks has been abandoned with even the security booth totally emptied, a situation, according to the Liberian baffled many Liberians in that part of the country.
GNN contacts in Ghana also confirmed the abrupt closure of the Liberia embassy in Accra noting that this situation has taken many Liberians who resides in that country and want to interact with the embassy for their traveling and other services by surprise.
“As I speaking to you now, the embassy is completely abandoned, there is no signs of seeing any employee including staffers and officials of the embassy, for almost a week now the embassy has been closed, up to date no official statement has been issued,” our contact speaking via mobile phone said,
But in reaction to this report, the Assistant Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sylvester Pewee denied the report noting that it is intended to tarnish the Liberian government image abroad, but further noted that his Ministry will shortly contact the Ghanaian Government about this this latest development regarding the abandonment of the Liberian embassy in Ghana.
