LIBERIA: Dozens Of Muslims Storm Capitol Hill Demanding The Declaration Of Two Muslim National Holidays

The Muslims dressed in white with placards carrying various inscriptions chanted slogans for their religious rights in Liberia.

Presenting their petition to members of the Liberian Legislature, the head of the group Ayuba Swaray said it has been too long Muslims in Liberia have been considered as second class citizens, something he noted must be addressed.

He added that recognizing Abraham Day and the climax of Ramadan Day as national holidays will add value and dignity to Muslims in Liberia.

Meanwhile, receiving the petition, the House of Representatives Chairman on claims and petition, Representative Rosaline Dennis assured the agitating Muslims that the legislature will consider keenly their petition for their demands.

According to her, though Muslims holidays like Abraham Day and Ramadan are not distorted during the observing of these days, and further said their call for National Holidays will be carefully looked at.
