LIBERIA: D-Day For Candidates Vying For Lofa County Senatorial By-Election Today, NEC Chair Assures Of Transparency

The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Davidetta Brown Lassanah has officially declared today, June 28, 2022 as polling day for the Lofa County Senatorial By-election, and therefore assured of  free and fair election which will free of biases, but rather transparency will be demonstrated in the process.

Polling centers at various locations in the county opened as early as 6am today, as voters go out to elect the candidate of their choice; six candidates have registered to contest for the slog left vacant due to the failure of Senator-elect, Brownie Samukai who was rejected due to his alleged criminal charges leveled against him.

Mr. Samukai was denied taken seat in the Senate after he won the last election for the county due to his alleged involvement of misapplication of monies belonging to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia, a situation that led to him being rejected.

The public, especially citizens of the county will today decide as to who to elect amongst six candidates Sumo G. Kupee, Galakpai Kortaimai, Joseph K. Jallah, Mariamu B. Fofana, George Beyan Samah, Johnny Nadebe and Momo Cyrus.
