LIBERIA: Clergyman Jailed For Persistent Non-Support Of Three Minors

Flash Back: Man Handcuffed

A clergyman of the Gospel Light A.M.E Church in Chicken Soup Factory on Tuesday burst into tears when he was handcuffed by court officers and escorted to jail for failing to support his three minor children.

Pastor Moses Juana was on April 30 jailed following a complaint filed by his legally married wife, Madam Mardea Juana that the defendant had consistently refused to support her and their three children.

His detention came when he made a stipulation to pay his children’s support through the court, but for over four months the defendant did not pay the support of US300.00.

This prompted the court to issue a Writ of Arrest against him, ordering him to appear before it to show why he should not be held in contempt.

According to report, the defendant is an employee of the Labor Ministry and a Pastor of the Gospel Light A.M.E Church.

The defendant and his wife have been married for eight years now, and have three minor children.

The defendant is currently behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial.
