Liberia Chamber Of Commerce and the Liberia Business Association ‘Made in Liberia’ Street Trade Fair Gains Momentum

The leadership of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC) and the Liberia Business Association (LIBA) on  Saturday, December 8, 2018 for the first time held a one day trade fair with code name: ‘Street Sale’  aimed at promoting ‘Made In Liberia; products.

The occasion which took place in central Monrovia brought together dozens of entrepreneurs from around the country and was graced by the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Professor Wilson K, Tarpeh who appeared excited  applauded the initiative by the leadership of both the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and the Liberia Business Association.

Minister Tarpeh speaking at the launched of this colorful occasion also assured the business community of government fullest support in the growth and development of the Liberian business sector.

He disclosed to the gathering that the government is currently working out plans to release the amount of One Million United States Dollars for the growth of the sectors, and further noted that it is the concern of the government headed by President George Manneh Weah to assist the business community in solidifying its effort in their respective drive.

Speaking earlier, the President of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. J. Wendell Addy on behalf of the business community crave for more support from the Liberian Government, noting that Liberian and foreign owned businesses are struggling, and further needed the support of the central government for the growth of the sector, noting, “We are seeking the support of the Liberian Government to making this work,” Mr. Addy stressed.

For his part, the President of the Liberia Business Association, Mr. James M. Strother also expressed thanks and appreciation to his members who turned out for the Street selling fair, and assured the Liberian people that this exercise will be a regular event in order to promote Liberian made product to the public.

Over ten local producers turned out with various home made products including food, drinks, clothing, and other household materials were put on display with at the amazement of many Liberians and foreigners who came over to buy or take a glace of the ‘Made In Liberia’ products expressed gratitude to the LCC and LIBA.

Since the ascendancy of the current leadership of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC), headed by Mr. J. Wendell Addy as its President, the interest of the business community has always been the paramount concern of his administration, and cementing cordial relationship with all stakeholders including the Liberia Business Association, the Lebanese and Indian business associations, the National Investment Commission (NIC) among others.

One of LCC’s recent exposure of Liberia’s locally made products abroad, was the just the ended AGOA Trade Fair held in the United States where dozens of producers of locally products were opportune for the first time to be a part of such international event.

Another opportunity for local producers is the upcoming Cairo Trade Fair where again Liberian local producers are expected to form part of this great event to publicly put on display of Liberian home made products.
