LIBERIA: BMMC, Workers Union Settle The Dust, As Union Officials Reinstated

The Management of Bea Mountain Mining Company (BMMC) has agreed to settle their differences after having a reconciliatory meeting between the two groups.

A statement read by the Chairman of the workers’ Union, Mr. Samuel Roberts, Chairman said after the meeting between the management and his group it was agreed that officials of the union who were dismissed have been reinstated but with different assignment.

And that the 116 Short term status were changed to permanent , and also noted that the 90 daily hire (Casual Workers) status were changed to short term.

It was also agreed that ll short term workers will all benefits ( school fees, medical insurance, rice subsidy and other
benefits contained in the CBA upon signing the new consent form from the union leadership

The statement also disclosed that the recreation construction is approved awaiting completion of the land to be purchased from the community which have started.

The union Chairman said the management has accepted to start working with our new bargaining agent (mother union), Mr. Roberts disclosed that they have achieved all these things in the interest of the workers, stressing by saying, “The room is now open for more discussion. Together “
