Mr. Anderson Miameln, Executive Director of Center for Transparency and Accountability (CENTAL) has publicly criticized the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah for allegedly defending government officials who were indicted by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission for alleged corruption.
Mr. Maimeln addressing journalists in Monrovia recently said the Liberian leader alleged refusal to take action against those indicted by the LACC, contradicts government’s position in fighting public corruption.
President George Weah has come under strong criticism for his recent response to a Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission report which indicted key officials of his Government including Agriculture Minister Jennie Cooper.
The LACC recent investigative report found the Ministry of Agriculture, Liberia Institute of Statistic and Geo Information Services, Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation and the Planned Parenthood Partnership liable for willfully carrying out corrupt practices.
But the President, in response, said he cannot panelize any official of his government based on accusation as such; the official should be given opportunity to face the Justice system.
Reacting to the President’s comment, several Liberians, including the Center for Transparency and Accountability Executive Director Anderson Miamehn said the president is undermining the work of LACC.
