LIBERIA: Ahead Of June 7th Protest, US Embassy Issues Demonstration Alert
The United States embassy credited near Monrovia has issued a ‘Demonstration Alert’ to all its personnel in Monrovia, noting that a demonstration is expected to take place on Friday, June 7, 2019, beginning in the morning and possibly continuing the next day. A group known as The Council of Patriots is organizing the demonstration.
U.S. government personnel have been advised to avoid the area, including rescheduling flights in or out of Roberts International Airport on June 7 and 8, as traffic jams may affect travel to and from the airport.
The Alert further said all personnel are advise to Avoid the areas of the demonstrations, Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests, and monitor local radio stations for update, also keep a low profile.
