Journalist’s Killer, Jonathan Williams To Serve Life Imprisonment At Monrovia Central Prison

The Ministry of Justice has transferred the sentencing of murder convict, Jonathan Williams, at the Monrovia Central Prison, to serve his life imprisonment after two years of trial.

In March 2020, Williams was pronounced guilty of murdering Journalist Tyron Brown of Super FM in 2018.

The case was due to be tried at Criminal Court ‘A’ at the Temple of Justice, but was moved to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, due to public sentiment.

However, Assistant Justice Minister for Litigation, Wesseh A. Wesseh, told ELBC Thursday, October 21, 2021, that the decision to relocate him was agreed between Government and defense lawyers.

Minister Wesseh also said:” The Government continues to win cases, especially in rural Liberia, contrary to aged-old views that the Liberian Government does not have a good record of winning cases.”

According to him, public’s attention on theft and sabotage cases has generated less interest in other criminal cases that are being won by the Government.
