The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town was fille with jubilation on Saturday, November 30, 2024, as Liberia celebrated President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s 80th birthday.
The milestone event showcased the far-reaching impact of the Joseph Nyuma Boakai (JNB) Foundation, a beacon of hope and transformation for countless Liberians.
Mr. Jackson George, Executive Director of the JNB Foundation, highlighted the organization’s unwavering dedication to uplifting communities and fostering sustainable development.
“Our dream is to touch every sector in Liberia,” George stated. “We are not selecting a few but focusing on the well-being of all Liberians, particularly those excluded from opportunities.”
Founded by President Boakai, the JNB Foundation has become a lifeline for many, addressing critical needs in agriculture, economic empowerment, healthcare, education, infrastructure and environmental and sanitation.
The Foundation’s notable achievements include the distribution of essential medical equipment to hospitals and the expansion of healthcare access in Montserrado and other counties.
George expressed gratitude for the trust and support of local and international partners, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to rebuilding lives and restoring hope.
“We are restoring hope for those who have faced immense challenges,” he remarked, reflecting on the Foundation’s tangible impact across Liberia.
The celebration attracted a diverse audience, including dignitaries, international partners, business leaders, traders, students, and community members.
Among the highlights was a donation of USD 10,949 presented by Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Dean of the President’s Cabinet, on behalf of the Cabinet. The contribution underscored a collective commitment to advancing the Foundation’s mission and solidifying President Boakai’s enduring legacy of service and compassion.
During a press briefing, George reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to its core pillars: youth and women empowerment, education, healthcare, and disaster management. He acknowledged the challenges of sustaining a charitable organization but expressed confidence in securing resources to expand its reach.
“We aim to build on the progress made and ensure President Boakai’s legacy endures,” George said.
“The President is deeply invested in this vision, and we are determined to uphold it through our leadership.” He also emphasized the importance of media engagement to amplify the Foundation’s achievements.
“Many of the Foundation’s accomplishments remain untold. We will work closely with the media to ensure these stories are shared,” he noted.
As the JNB Foundation looks to the future, its mission to transform lives and create a brighter, more equitable Liberia remains steadfast.
