Indian Community In Liberia Celebrates 172nd Independence Day With Liberians, Presents Medical Supplies

Indian community in Liberia, which is known for its philanthropic work in Liberia during the Country’s 172nd Independence Day presented several  medical supplies including medicines and testing equipment to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

According to a press release, the Association of Indian Community in Liberia  (AICL) under the guidance of its President Rohiet Suji is organizing the event with voluntary contributions from its members  in the country.

AICL team led by its acting President, Mr. Pradeep Babani along with Mr, Laxman Bojwan i(Pioneer Member and Former Vice President of AICL), Mr Shankar Jhamnani (Pioneer Member and Former Vice President of AICL), Mr .Pradeep Sachdev (Executive Member) Mr. Manoj Dadlani (Executive Member) and Mr Baiju Sanchari (Active Member)  met  with Dr. Francis Kateh, Deputy Minister of Health,  Madam Norwu Howard; Deputy Minister for administration, Madam A. Vaifee Tulay of Planning, and other delegates from Health Ministry.

The AICL said the activities of community service in Liberia are inspired by one of the ancient Indian sayings,  “Vasudev Kutumbakam”,which means the world is one family .It implies that each one should care for the other. It is similar to the quintessentially African concept of “Ubuntu” which epitomizes coexistence and mutual dependence for coexistence.

In the recent past ,AICL organized a series of community focussed events examples being the orphanage charity,  Christmas-eve charity work ,distribution of school Kits,annual sports day ,women-centric welfare programmes  in collaboration with Liberia Red Cross etc. AICL will continue to discharge its social responsibilities with cooperation of Liberian Government.

In a related development, the AICL has expressed thanks  and appreciation to the people and government of Liberia particularly the Liberian President H.E George Manneh Weah.

Speaking further, the acting President of the AICL Mr. Pradeep Babani said “I would like to convey my deep gratitude for sparing your valuable time, first of all I wish you and Liberia a very Happy Independence Day from the entire Indian Community, We are here to contribute some medical kits and testing machines for the health sector and here to assure our full support in future also as per best of our ability.

ADM Sis Norwu Howard, Deputy Minister Varfee Tulay, speaking at the program, trhe head of the team said, “It is our honor  to be here as members of Indian Community, “I Will like to give thanks to the government of Liberia headed by His Excellency George Weah, Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah and her able team who are working hard to uplift the living condition of Liberians and providing quality Healthcare system to reach every person.

“I brought greetings from AICL and its members on the eve of July 26, we feel this is our home and Liberians are our family, where we have lived from so many decades together as brother and sisters. The Indian Community is always pleased to work hands in hands with Liberians in time of crisis or emergencies. In view of this time we feel that there is need of some essential drugs to the Ministry of Health, even though we are not able to provide all, but we brought some 37 cartoons of assorted drugs with malaria, hypertension, diabetic analgesic fluid, etc to assist some clinics. We highly appreciate and thankful for receiving us, and accepting our contribution. We can assure you that we will always be available to assist in case of any emergency or SOS Call,” the AICL head of the delegation to the Ministry of Health officials.
