Incident At BMMC Is Occupational Accident, Management Clarifies
Following report on social media and other traditional media outlets of the death of two person with over 85 persons been injured at the operational site of the BEA Mountain Mining Company in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County, this outlet has gathered that the incident in question was described as “Occupational Accident” which led to the death of one person instead.
The incident, according to GNN investigation took place last week, the victim, the dead employee identified as Thomas Haines whose prior to his death was assigned at the undermining.
According to information gathered by the GNN, the burial preparation of the late Haines will be taking care of by the BEA Mountain Mining Company, while the wounded are said to be responding to treatment at a local hospital.
GNN investigation has however established that the news about the occurrence of mudslides in the area speaking to a team of regulators from the Ministry of Mines (MME) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Ministry of Labour (MOL) said it is untrue via mobile phone.
The experts also reacted that the information referring to the incident about mudslides at BMMC as “misleading and unfounded.”
BMMC is a mining company located in Grand Cape Mount County.
As a result of the incident, the company observed a day off, the workers union said the action of the company to declared a day off was commendable.
