In Montserrado By-Election Preliminary Result Shows Independent Candidate, Edward P. Flomo In The Lead, As CDC Candidate John Weah Drags Behind

Edward Flomo

The just ended National Elections Commission (NEC) supervised Montserrado County By-election held yesterday, November 20, 2018 where one of the candidates, John Weah (Know relationship to President) contested on the ticket of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) unconfirmed preliminary results say John Weah’s support has declined.

According to various reports from electoral district #13 via local radio stations one of the Independent candidates in the race, Edward Flomo has topped the results even though unconfirmed by the NEC, with John Weah of the CDC dragging behind.

Observers who spoke to the GNN during the report of the unconfirmed preliminary results from various polling centers, believed that the alleged defeat of John Weah in this race is a result of last Saturday’s clashes allegedly carry out by some members of the CDC under the supervision of Jefferson Koijee, Monrovia City Mayor who reportedly carried armed men and himself with a silver pistols during both rallies of the CDC candidate and the Unity Party candidates, this on the part of Koijee led many to run for their lives.

Liberians who spoke to the GNN this morning, November 21, 2018 also blamed President Weah for allowing people in Government to intimidate peaceful citizens who had gone to rally support to their preferred choice for the representative election in Montserrado County District #13.

Both men, Weah and Flomo are among four other candidates who contested for District # 13 Representative position to replace Saah Joseph who was elected to the Senate after President Weah ascended to the presidency.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) which is with the authority to release the result, is expected to do that soon.
