In Maryland County: Man, 43, Dies In Harper Corrections Palace

Prison authority in Harper City, Maryland County is said to be investigating the death of one of the inmates identified as Thomas Williams in its central prison.

Williams, 43, was confirmed dead  by the authority of the Harper prison, according to our Correspondent, the late Williams was charged and sentenced for the commission of the Crime theft of property by the Harper City Court, sentenced to prison for a period of three Months and ten days.

Speaking to our reporter in Harper City, Chrispin T. Doe, Prison Superintendent of the Harper Central Prison said Corrections Officers who slept on duty on Wednesday night the 29 of July 2020 reported to him about the death of the late inmate, but could not state as to what led to the death of the prisoner.

He said the Crime Service Division (CSD) of the Liberia National Police , and the County Health team on have been duly informed of the incident, and further noted that Health workers in the County are yet to find out what actually led to the death of the inmate.

The Harper Prison boss told reporter that the late Thomas Williams didn’t complain to the authority of any illness prior to his death. However, the head of the corrections Palace also disclosed that the center currently has ninety-six prisoners including Convict and Pretrial detainees, while the total capacity is about 109 persons.

Superintendent Doe informed the public that the death of Williams is the second time of such, adding, “It is very much regrettable about the death of this inmate. Let me on behalf of the authority of Harper Prison say sorry to the bereaved family  for the death of Thomas Williams, God protection should be upon you,” Superintendent Doe who appeared sadden told reporters.
