Traditional leaders of Grand Bassa County have overwhelmingly petitioned Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gbehzohngar Findley given him to hope to proudly to contest the pending midterm Senatorial Elections scheduled later this year in Grand Bassa County.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, the head of the group, the Chief Grand Zoe of Grand Bassa Edward Garmah, said they have evaluated all of the aspirants and believed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Findley is the best.
They also stressed in their petition that Minister Findley has done more good things in Grand Bassa County ranging which they noted include Grand Bassa Community College, the Fair Ground Community Road, the pavement of feeder community roads amongst others, with all of these developments, the traditional leaders noted worth him to contest against the incumbent.
Reading the petition statement, Bassa Culture Coordinator Isaac B. Toe said they have also understood that through Hon. Findley as Foreign Affairs Minister many good things have happened in Liberia.
He stressed in the statement that they made great error in 2014 by casting Mr. Findley out of the House of Senate. The Chiefs begged Gbehzohngar Findley to accept their petition.
“We have come to petition you to contest the 2020 Senatorial elections in Grand Bassa County. I want to say sorry and inform you that what happened 2014 will not be repeated.”
On behalf the elders he used the occasion to call on President George Weah to allow their son return to the county in order to serve them as senator.
“We want to tell President Weah that we have known our wrongs and we need Mr. Findley to take over the county 2020,” he added
Matthew Joe, Buchanan District Representative received the petition from the elders, adding that he promise to working with the County Superintendent Janjay Baikpeh to take it to the President.
“I want to say to you my elders, that the Superintendent and I will take the communication to President George Weah for his feedback, noting further, he said the Superintendent and him will return to let them know the respond from the President”.
Meanwhile, Minister Milton Gbehzohngar Finley assured the citizens of his commitment to reach out to his boss President George Weah to acquaint him with the Bassa people request for him (Findley) to contest the Special Senatorial Election in Bassa.
Minister Findley who once served as Senator of the County and President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, was politically defeated in the 2014 Midterm Senatorial Election by Senato Jonathan L. Kaipay.
Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence who is also the Political Leader of Liberty Party is the incumbent Senator of Grand Bassa County.
It is also glaring that she’s gearing up for the political battle that may lead her to retain as her position. The million dollars question in the street corners of the county is – with the many names coming up as aspirants for 2020, who wins the Special Senatorial Election in Grand Bassa County comes December 8?
Well, this decision is in the hands of the entire citizenry of Grand Bassa County.
