“I Am Not Involve In Any Illicit Mining” – Deputy House Speaker, Cllr. Fonati Koffa Clarifies
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa has publicly clarified of any involvement in illicit mining in his own county, Grand Kru being reported by the GNN quoting credible sources.
In his reaction to the story published entitled: ‘Top Lawmakers Are Said To Be Undergoing Int’l Investigation For Illicit Mining’ and published by the GNN today, January 3, 2023, Deputy Speaker Koffa who is also a sitting Representative of Grand Kru County District #2, categorially denied doing any mining in the county.
According to GNN sources, international investigators along with their local partners are currently conducting series of fact findings regarding the alleged link of these two prominent lawmakers who are said to be using their legislative powers in invading taxes by enriching themselves through illicit mining in that part of the country.
From the look of things, GNN source hinted, that those reportedly involved in the reported illicit mining in the southeastern may be sanctioned when it is proven that indeed they are linked to such activities, which according to them is robbing the country of its natural resources.
The source further hinted GNN that the names of those lawmakers reportedly linked to illicit mining in the southeast are to be withheld until the completion of the investigation, and the findings released for onward action to be taken against those who may be found guilty of such wrong doings.
