BARCLAYVILLE, Feb 6, 2026 – The Grand Kru County Health Officer, Dr. Learwellie Craig, has officially lauded Senator Numene Bartekwa for the generous donation of a 40-foot container filled with assorted medical supplies. This substantial contribution to the County Health Team is intended to directly enhance the quality of healthcare services available to citizens throughout the region.
Dr. Craig emphasized that the Senator’s support for the county’s health infrastructure is of such significance that its importance cannot be overstated. He noted that these supplies will play a pivotal role in alleviating existing operational constraints across various health facilities within the five health districts of Grand Kru County.
Addressing recent reports from certain media outlets, Dr. Craig took the opportunity to provide clarity regarding allegations that the donation contained expired medications. He firmly refuted claims that the Senator provided expired drugs for public use, stating that the initiative consisted of legitimate medical supplies rather than pharmaceutical products. Dr. Craig characterized the misinformation as a political maneuver intended to cast the lawmaker’s gesture in a negative light.
“It is true that some of the medical equipment had expired, but no drugs were included in the 40ft container donated by the senator,” Dr. Craig clarified.
The Health Officer further explained that the few items found to be expired were handled according to standard protocols. These specific materials were burned in a transparent process witnessed by staff from the Senator’s office, members of the public, and representatives from the media to ensure full accountability.
Speaking with Global News Network via WhatsApp on Thursday, Dr. Craig confirmed that the inventory of viable medical supplies is currently secured at the County Health Team compound. These resources are being prepared for immediate distribution to the various health facilities spread across the county to ensure they reach the patients who need them most.
In his closing remarks, the County Health Team Chief Administrator issued a stern warning against the politicization of health services.
