Grand Kru Superintendent has disclosed that the county is a potential beneficiary of the National Forest Sharing Fund intended to preserve forest.
According to Antoinette Worwele Nimely, the county through the Finance Officer has received in cheque the amount of Twenty six thousand United States Dollars (US$26,000.00) to preserve potential Forests in Grand Kru.
The new Forest Sharing Fund is an initiatives of the government.
She said the government initial fund received for forest reservation as they are currently in pursuit of the County Development Fund from the government, it will assist in fast tracking the development of the county.
Superintendent Nimely told GNN news on Tuesday November 12,2024 in Barclayville that her leadership will partner with the Environmental Protection Agency EPA in preserving forest in the county.
She clearified that the preservation of forest by the Liberian government will not prevent local farming activities in Grand Kru County.
