“Go And Proclaim The Good News Of Christ” Salvation Army Int’l Secretary For Program Resources Commands Newly Ordained Pastors
On Sunday November 25, 2018, The Salvation Army Paynesville Corps situated on the pipeline Road was a colorful scene when the Salvation Army Officer Training College commissioned and ordained several officers (Pastors) after two years of intensive studies and practical at various Salvation Army Churches around the country.
Speaking during the commissioning and ordination of the (officers) pastors, The Salvation Army International Secretary for Program Resources, Commissioner Birgitte Brekke Clifton cautioned the newly ordained pastors to spread the words of God in every corners of Liberia and even across the borders.
According to commissioner Clifton, she is in Liberia under the instruction of the General of the Salvation Army based in London to ordain the pastors and assigned them to other parts of the country where Salvation Army is currently operating.
The Salvation Army International Secretary for program Resources challenged them to also care for the needs of the people they are going to be preaching the words of God to and not only looking at the spiritual aspect of the Gospel. She further informed the officers that much will be expected of them as they have put aside everything and decided to follow Jesus.
“Be strong and courageous as God told Joshua in the Holy Bible that he will always be with him and will never forsake him, I stand here today under the mandate of the General to give you the same command,” the Salvation Army International Secretary for program Resources said.
“I don’t know where you are going, I don’t know the people you are going to meet and even your family, but one thing I know is where you are going God is there to carry you through” Commissioner Clifton concluded.
Also speaking, the Officer Commanding (Bishop) of the Salvation Army Liberia and Sierra Leone Command Lt. Col. Samuel Mkami described the occasion as one of the joyous programs he has witnessed since his coming to Liberia.
Reading the Communication from the General of the Salvation Army based in London, Lt. Col. Mkami disclosed that the General in his communication to the Messengers of the gospel session said he is pleased with the class and he is of the conviction that they will do their best in reaching the unreached.
The General in his communication from London challenged the newly ordained Pastors not to be ashamed of the Gospel taking into consideration (Romans 1:16), according to him it is a good news for all of humanity. General Brian Peddle challenged them to find a way through their ministry to carry out a relevant communication process of the Gospel.
For his part, the Training principal of the Officer Training College, Captain Sampson G. Kanmoe who is the first Liberian to hold said position after several years stressed that Liberians are capable of performing any task within the Salvation Army at home and abroad.
Captain Kanmoe, cautioned other Liberian Salvationists to join hands with those Liberians who are in various positions to move the work of the Salvation Army in Liberia and Sierra Leone forward for the betterment of the work of God on Earth.
According to him, it is only under his Administration that the College is now running two sessions without any problem. He also lauded the visiting Lecturers to the college for the level of work done during the course of the year.
The college graduated about fourteen pastors and were assigned in the following counties and Country: Bryant and Lovetee Kokolee to Sierra Leone, Festus and Rita Wleh to Chapel Corps, Samson and Eval Vah to Grand Gedeh, Titus and Janet Wesseh to Foyiah city Corps, Lofa, Moses and Viola Diggs to Gbarnga City Corps, Bong, Victor and Edith Yeagar to Maryland while Emmanuel and susan Bonga to Compound #3 in Grand Bassa.
