G/Cape Mount District #2 Rep. Candidate Hon. Boakai Laliferro Empowers Over 100 Women

A total of one hundred and ten females (110) and twenty-three (23) males totaling one hundred and thirty-three (133) citizens from Grand Cape Mount County have benefited from a three-week intensive vocational training program thereby acquiring skills in various disciplines.

The three weeks vocational training program was organized by the Liberia Citizens Development Initiative (LCDI), a youth-driven organization that was founded in 2015, by Grand Cape Mount County District #2 Representative Candidate, Honorable Boakai Lasana Taliferro.

According to Hon. Taliffero, the training provided the platform for citizens to learn new skills that will enable them to positively impact their communities, country and the world as a whole.

During the course of the program, the Liberia Citizens Development Initiative (LCDI) delivered a free three weeks intensive vocational training to the Grand Cape Mount citizens in business and life skills with specific focus on entrepreneurship development, bar and liquid soap making, clora production, tie-dye and designing among others. The training which started on August 21,2023, ended on September 16,2023 and was held under the theme: “Empowering Citizens For Entrepreneurship Capacity Building for Sustainable Economic Growth”.

Giving an overview of the program, the Executive Directress of LCDI Madam Caroline Nohn Wonokay said the recruitment for the training was done systematically through the recommendations of community leaders. According to her, they initially received two hundred and fifty (250) names from LCDI Volunteer Madam Tete B. Woart but was able to successfully graduate 133 committed and determined citizens who are prepared to drive the change that Liberia needs.

She noted that the first graduating class was named as the “Golden Class of 2023” simply because the graduates have the hearts of gold.

Caroline Nohn Wonokay stressed that the goal of the institution is to cover the entire country as more support come from bigger institutions, national leaders, and all well-meaning Liberians passionate about youth capacity building and development.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the training who were seen in a jubilant mode have commended the Grand Cape Mount County District #2 Representative Candidate, Boakai Lasana Taliferro for the initiative
