Fugitive Hizb ut-Tahrir member arrested from Chattogram
Members of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police arrested a fugitive member of the banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir during a raid in the small hours on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, an ATU team conducted the raid at Bashundhara residential area under Chattogram Halishahar police station around 12:30am and made the arrest, said Barrister Mahfuzul Alam Russell, Superintendent of Police (Media and Awareness Wing, ATU).
The arrestee is Md. Sahed Hossain alias Saker, 36, son of Md. Badiul Alam at Fatehpur village of Chattogram district.
Sahed was arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 at Kotwali Police Station in CMP, he added.
He had been hiding in different parts of the country for about eight years.
Further legal action will be taken against the arrestee, said the officer.
