Following Social Media Report That Escape EPS Agents Abandon President Weah’s Entourage, Management Clarifies

Following social media report that some agents of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) have abandoned the Liberian leader, President George Weah who is currently out of the country, but the leadership of the EPS has categorially denied the report agents escaped, while on a chain of international travels with President George Weah.

Addressing reporters recently in Monrovia, the Spokesman of the EPS, Philip Moore, told a news conference in Monrovia on Monday, December 5, 2022, that none of its agents has abandoned their assignment with the President abroad.

Mr. Moore said:” The revelation is backed by thorough verification by authorities of the EPS into the information that has been filtering in since last week.”

He assured that the President’s security is still intact, warning those spreading such misinformation to desist.

The EPS Communication Director said while it is needless to publicly discuss the President’s security, the institution was constrained to respond based on the lingering misinformation.

At the same time, family members have confirmed the death of Eric Johnson, an agent of the EPS.

A brother to the deceased, Abraham Samuel, told ELBC that his brother was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, December 4, 2022, on arrival at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia.

Mr. Samuel said his brother Eric Johnson fell off late Saturday, December3, 2022, evening in Congo Town.

According to him, the EPS Agent was first rushed to the SOS Hospital, but later transferred to the JFK where he was pronounced dead.

Abraham Samuel also clarified that at no time did the Government of Liberia, through the EPS, deny the family delivery of the body.

He stated that the body of Agent Johnson is currently deposited at a funeral home awaiting final funeral arrangements in conjunction with the EPS.

Mr. Samuel urged the public to desist from spreading misinformation about Eric Johnson’s death, stressing that the family is mourning the death of their brother.

In another development, the murder case involving EPS Officer Suspect Patrick Kollie has resumed at Criminal Court “A” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

According to ELBC Judicial Reporter, Suspect Kollie is before the Court where jury trial is ongoing.

Our Reporter said Suspect Kollie has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

In July of this year, EPS Officer Patrick Kollie allegedly shot and killed Valentine Johnson around the Police Academy Junction in Paynesville City.
