EFFL Condemns Court’s Verdict In Favor Of American Citizen, Lucas Richards

The Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) has unequivocally condemned the judicial system, expresses deep concern and disappointment regarding a recent court ruling that denied justice to a young Liberian woman, Jessica Lloyd in a case involving she and her American ex-husband Lucas Richards.

In a press release during the week by the EFFL said the judgment appears to be influenced by notions of white supremacy and Western imperialism as it raises serious questions about the impartiality of our judicial system, particularly when cases involve individuals from different backgrounds.

EFFL believe that had the situation been reversed or involved a Liberian man, the outcome would likely have been different.

The release maintains that the ruling underscores the lingering impact of colonialism on their mindset and judicial processes as it reflects a worrying trend where judgments seem skewed against the poor and marginalized, especially when foreign parties are involved.

The EFFL calls on the judiciary to reflect deeply on this decision and strive for fairness and justice for all, regardless of nationality or social status.

“Trust in the judiciary is essential for the stability and progress of Liberia, and such judgments only erode that trust.

Corruption within the judiciary further exacerbates the plight of ordinary citizens, leading to injustices and instability. The case of Sister Jessica Llyod is a stark example of the systemic challenges we face, and it is imperative that steps are taken to address them.

“The EFFL reaffirms its commitment to fighting against injustice and inequality in Liberia. We stand in solidarity with Sister Jessica Llyod and all those who have been denied justice. This ruling does not represent the values of our country, and we will continue to advocate for a fair and equitable society.

“The EFFL urges the Liberian people to join us in our quest for a better future and a judiciary that truly serves the interests of the people,” the release stated.

This is propaganda not news…release the full transcript of the Judge’s ruling, which was through, in depth, and impartial. It took him two hours to read his ruling. He left no stone unturned and anyone who reads his ruling must concede that the “white man” was unfairly judged by the media in the court of public opinion, without all of the facts. It must also be stated that the Lloyd’s attempted to extort the defendant several times, for a total of over USD$100,000. The defendant refused such outrageous demands and chose to go to trial. Had he given them the money, they were prepared to withdraw their allegations and drop all charges.
