EDITORIAL: WE ARE BACK WITH OBJECTIVITY AND PROFESSIONALISM

No Permanent Friend, No Permanent Enemy

IT IS ABOUT  a month now since the GNN-Liberia  resumes its  online publication. The platform was closed due to the demise of its founder and Publisher  Joel Cholo Brooks who had successful published the platform online and on the newsstand.  It is no secret that publishing  an outline like the GNN is not only costly, it is equally challenging in that it requires paying reporters, editors and office staff
COGNIZANT OF THE enormity of this task, we are resolved to embark on it to ensure that the vision and dream of the late Journalist Brooks is kept alive.  Notwithstanding, we have resumed to play the traditional professional media role which to a large extent, and of course primarily too, borders setting the agenda for the good of our country.
WE ARE AWARE that Liberia is at the crossroads of good governance and democracy. At this crucial point in our nation, we are joining  the media landscape to make our genuine contribution to the growth and development  of the nation and its people, the upholding of democratic tenets including the rule of law under our governance system with bicameral legislature in a triangular government.
WHILE WE REMAIN  steadfast in performing our professional duty, this management team with a robust editorial department hereby sound the caveat that enemies of the state are equally enemies of the GNN-Liberia  platform and its sister outlet, The Labor TIMES.  We implore all to be supportive and not abuse what may be seen as  friendship, for as it is in diplomacy we have no permanent friend, but we have permanent interest; and our interest is the survival of democracy devoid of corruption, and the maintenance of peace and tranquility.
WE WILL DEFINITELY not condone the business as usual, where corrupt bureaucracy will want to manipulate the media for selfish agenda. To this en we implore all entrusted with functions for the benefit of the state and its people to cooperate in availing their sides  of the stories to avoid running stories online and in the papers – The GNN-Liberia and The LABOR TIMES – without doing justice to the newsmaker(s).
FOR FACT, WE WILL  encourage bigotry from state functionaries  and  bureaucrats of private entities where the interests of Linerian(s)  are injured. This is to say that we will to the latter the sacred CREED of journalism by remaining professionals.  As a matter of fact, we owe no obligation to anyone but the truth.
HAVING SAID THIS, we are calling on all our partners to remain in the partnership, as we will handle our side of the partnership scrupulously. We open our arms to all and sundry in this new beginning, but warn that our friendship should not be abused or taken for granted.
ONCE MORE, WE  have come to stay to do the Liberian people’s work , using the ABC of journalism as our guide and our gospel.   We welcome all contributions in terms of advertisements, press releases and articles – sponsored ones or not.  We will be at your service.
