CNDRA TECHNICAL TEAM CONCLUDES A THREE-DAY ASSESSMENT IN LOFA COUNTY
The Center for National Documents and Records Agency completed a three-day assessment in Voinjama City, Lofa County, to cultivate cordial working relationships with its staff, stakeholders, and county officials, and ascertain firsthand information on the operations of the agency’s facilities in the region from January 7 to 9, 2026.
The delegation, led by Gabriel N. Domah, Deputy Director General for Administration, prioritized firsthand observation of the agency’s facilities. By engaging directly with the local infrastructure, the leadership aimed to gain an unvarnished understanding of the operational climate within the region. This visit was not merely symbolic; it served as a practical intervention under the broader “rescue mission” framework, which seeks to revitalize public service delivery across Liberia’s administrative landscape.
One of the cornerstone achievements of the visit was the official presentation of essential office equipment to the CNDRA staff stationed at the Lofa County Service Center. This gesture was intended to immediately alleviate technical bottlenecks and empower employees to perform their duties with greater precision and speed. During the handover, Deputy Director Domah emphasized that improving staff performance is intrinsically linked to providing the necessary tools for the job.
The assessment also provided a platform for candid dialogue. The team actively sought input and suggestions from employees and stakeholders regarding the prevailing challenges that hinder service delivery. These discussions revealed a critical need for structural support, most notably highlighting significant staffing constraints that have placed a heavy burden on the current workforce. By documenting these gaps, the CNDRA leadership is now better positioned to advocate for the resources required to bolster their human capital in the northern region.
A pivotal moment of the mission occurred on Thursday, January 8, 2026, when the assessment team held a constructive dialogue with the Superintendent of Lofa County, Honorable J. Lavala Massaquoi. The meeting proved to be a breakthrough in inter-agency relations. Superintendent Massaquoi lauded the National Archives administration for its proactive stance and timely intervention, specifically noting the positive impact the new equipment would have on the local office. He further commended the local CNDRA employees for their consistent dedication and work ethic.
During this engagement, the Superintendent brought a vital historical and administrative detail to light: the building currently occupied by the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) in Voinjama actually belongs to the National Archives of Liberia. This revelation opened up a new avenue for strategic cooperation and resource management. Superintendent Massaquoi advised the CNDRA leadership to initiate a formal conference with the LLA to discuss the occupancy of the building and to streamline the processes surrounding the registration of legal instruments.
This proposed collaboration with the LLA represents a major opportunity to improve land-related documentation and archives management in Lofa County. By the end of the three-day mission, the CNDRA delegation had not only strengthened its professional ties with county authorities but had also established a clear roadmap for resolving space disputes and enhancing the overall integrity of record-keeping in the region.
